FOUNDER / FACTOTUM
A little bit left-brained (many years working in the corporate world!), a little more right-brained, spiritual but not airy-fairy, Shelley loves our beautiful planet and all things natural – though not quite as much as she loves her children, Kian, Tige and Harley. A Kinesiologist with training in Neuro Linguistic Programming, EFT, Massage, Reiki and many other healing modalities, Shelley began her store as a Kinesiologist selling a few healthy living and sustainability products in the “spare space”. She loves people (and a good chat – just like her dad) and believes in “Buy Local” first, to support Australia’s small family owned bricks and mortar retail businesses. Building a sustainable lifestyle, and helping others achieve theirs, is her passion.
MERCHANDISING EXTRAORDINAIRE & CUSTOMER HAPPINESS OFFICER
Kerryn, aka The Queen of Merchandising, is our bricks and mortar “calmer of chaos”. She makes the store look beautiful and magically fits all that Shelley buys into shelves; managing to do all this while sharing her big heart with all our instore customers. Slightly afflicted with OCD and often frustrated by Shelley’s buying and mess, she keeps the store under control and filled with love. When not working in the store, Kerryn can be found either at the beach with her fur babies or at home creating the most exquisite quilts, heat packs and other goodies that you will often find in our store. Talent and attention to detail ooze from this creative being.
NINJA OF AMAZINGNESS
Jayde (“Jaydo”) began working with Shelley in the store when she was a wee 15 years old. There is nothing Jaydo cannot put her hand to; helping out with everything from stock control, to merchandising, to bookkeeping. She is intelligent, hard-working and loved by all. Such a multi-talented young woman who – in between studying osteopathy at uni – is Shelley’s right-hand-gal. Always sporting the most beautiful smile and attitude, the store would not be the same (and Shelley would have had a breakdown) without this gorgeous girl.
CHIEF SMILE ENGINEER
Our wonderful Rhonnie Roo (yes, of Billie & Roo fame!). With a slight cleaning disorder and the ability to help out in any role, she brings joy, humour and love to our days. When not helping out, she can be found in cafes enjoying a nice cuppa and lunch or having fun with Shelley’s boys. As Shelley’s constant support and sounding board – the only one who’s allowed (to try) to pull Shell into line – the shop wouldn’t exist without our Roo.
ECO-WARRIOR SALES ASSISTANT
Our youngest employee but one of our most capable. Harley can usually be found after school unpacking boxes, serving customers and quality testing food products. Always our little eco-warrior, he knows how to talk the talk and walk the walk.
WAREHOUSE LOGISTICS & HOME STABILITY OFFICER
Glen is Shell’s rock, the lifter of heavy furniture, the man who keeps things flowing on the homefront, and he who sees things from a very grounded, logical place. Oh, he is also The Logistics King; helping to manage our warehouse and making sure your goodies arrive safely to your doorstep.
ONE SERIOUS WORKER
Our little muscle man that will, very matter of factly, serve customers when necessary and help out with weekend clean up duties. As the co-manufacturer of many of our wooden display items, he spends any money earned on his beloved Pixie (dog) and new tools. Such a great worker, he keeps our little farmlet running, tending to our fur babies big and small.
THE GO-TO MAN
Kian is our go to man. The love of his life – a Toyota Landcruiser – comes in very handy for shifting loads of furniture when Shell decides it’s time to rearrange the shop. His easy-going, gentle nature and ability to construct or put his hand to any task, is a must-have in our business.
GIFT WRAPPING WHIZ KID
Our gift-wrapping whiz kid who is proving to have taken on her mother’s talents for merchandising, Grace was a new addition to our team last Christmas (although has always been a part of the shop helping her mum Kerryn out). Always happy to lend a hand and get things done, she is a stickler for the correct positioning of price tags and making things orderly. Grace is currently studying Horticulture at Gippsland Tafe whilst completing Year 10 at Foster Secondary College.
CREATOR OF ALL THINGS WOODEN
Bern (real name William, ie. Billie) is Shelley’s dad and the manufacturer of our beautiful wooden counters, bag holders, stools and all sorts of things Shelley decides are needed to make the store a little more homely. He shares his love of all things wooden and his skills for making gorgeous objects with Shelley’s boys who can be found every spare moment with their Pa in the shed or in a paddock. Good old-fashioned values, the love of a chat, and a heart bigger than any other we know, Bern is our hero.
DYNAMIC INTERACTIONS ASSISTANT
Meg is one of the latest additions to our team, coming in on Saturday mornings to “learn the ropes”. And learn she does … ever so quickly and with great ease and efficiency. She may be the new kid on the block but she is certainly not a newcomer to our products, having been a big supporter of our shop and its products for many years. Her genuine love of retail and people is so evident in everything she does.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS EXEMPLIFIER
Calm and easy going, Paula is a dream to have on our team. Within a week of her joining us, we had customers coming in to the store to tell us how delightful she is and what great customer service they received. Always bubbly, we welcome Paula to the Billie & Roo team.
(Psst… keep an eye out for an update on this post as we find out more about Paula and any quirks she may have that we can share!!!)
