"Natural" on a label doesn't always mean totally natural or, unfortunately, not harmful to you or the environment. Cleaning products can be full of toxic chemicals that can pose serious health risks including cancer, endocrine disruption, birth defects and respiratory issues. These include phthalates, SLS and triclosan to name but a few. Unfortunately, manufacturers are able to overcome the need to list all ingredients in products (and aren’t required to indicate health risks), for example by using words like 'fragrance' instead of adequately disclosing the specific chemicals.

When you use eco-friendly products that are naturally formulated using only ingredients that have been thoroughly tested as safe for human use, you are one step closer to making sure your home is safe for you and your family. Alternatively, check out the great DIY recipes that can be found online using items that you probably already have in your pantry like vinegar, lemons and bi-carb soda.
