Toys

Playing with toys is the first opportunity a child has to explore and interact with the world on their own terms. To children, toys are more than just objects: they are companions, teachers, and super heroes that help guide them through a big and sometimes confusing world. They assist the physical, cognitive and emotional development that prepares children for adulthood. The Creativity Institute divides toys into four categories:

Toys for physical or muscle development such as wagons, bikes, boxes, puzzles, blocks, brooms, and shovels.

Toys for sensory (touch, sight, sound, taste, smell) development such as water toys, musical instruments, bubbles, play dough, and sand toys.

Toys for make-believe and social development such as dolls, dress-up clothes, cars, trucks, games, and books.

Toys for creative and intellectual development such as clay, crayons, paints, books, paper, and scissors. At Billie & Roo we believe the best toys are ones that engage a child’s senses, spark their imaginations, and encourage them to interact with others. We love toys!

Fabric Drawer

Beck is a surface designer and maker living in Melbourne/Naarm (Australia), who has a love of creating patterns.
Whilst working as a graphic designer for many years and yearning to create on more tactile mediums, she enrolled herself into a couple of screen-printing short courses, which led her to starting a textiles course and discover the world of repeating patterns.
She started Fabric Drawer in 2012 after travelling and then living in London, spending lots of hours wondering how to follow her creative passions.
Things started very small and organically, by being involved in a few small craft markets selling products she’d designed and made. Not deterred by the minimal sales, she continued to create her patterns and products and has been part of some larger design markets in Melbourne. As well as making her own range of products, Beck also worked with an art agent in America, licensing her artwork on a range gift/party ware and greeting cards. Since flying solo, she’s collaborated with a range of local and international companies.
Outside of design life, she’s a busy mum to two daughters and she still works and freelances as a graphic designer.
